This is the result of nearly $200,000 spent on a degree in International Studies with a concentration in the Middle East and Islamic Political Thought: Simple, by Kate. There is nothing simple about my obsession with the mystical world of the Near East, and, as my parents can tell you, it hasn’t gotten me very far (yet…). It dawned on me a few weeks ago as I began to divide my piggy bank (adorable zebra print boxes from the container store) into savings for a plane ticket to Lebanon and savings for a Balenciaga purse, that maybe I have some stuff to say about both of those topics. For now, we’ll just talk about the latter, the simpler stuff.
I might be a nerd, but I’m other things too. I am a girl, a native New Yorker with a love of all things fancy, shiny and glamorous. I don’t leave the house without wearing jewelry, and a nonfiction book in my purse. The books sitting on my desk are Style: A to Zoe by Rachel Zoe and a Qur’an with simultaneous English translation. Again, let’s focus on the fun stuff here.
Life is tough enough being an unemployed college graduate who lives at home with her parents. I might not have a degree in fashion merchandising or design, but I have my own style and my own voice, and I want to share it with all of you.
